Leendert van der Cooghen (ca. 1610–1681)

• Was a Dutch painter, draughtsman and printmaker.
• He is said to have been mainly engaged in drawing to entertain himself and his friends.
• He received his education from Jacob Jordaens.
• He was a close friend of Cornelis Bega.
• He lived in the Schagelstraat in Haarlem, where he was known as "Uncle Leendert".
• Van der Cooghen was a good friend of the Haarlem painter Vincent van der Vinne.
• He mainly made drawings, many etchings and paintings.
• His work mainly includes landscapes, portraits, genre representations and figures.
• The displayed painting is a crop from: Leendert van der Cooghen, Portrait of a Young Man, Bust, Likely a Self- Portrait, between 1642 and 1681.
